OUR STORY

Food and friendship have always gone hand in hand. This simple sentiment is our philosophy at Treats on Washington Bakery & Cafe. Our bakery was born out of our 11-year friendship and shared passion for high-quality freshly baked pastries to be enjoyed in an inviting atmosphere. Our mission is to provide the best handmade sweet and savory baked goods with exceptional coffee and espresso drinks. Treats on Washington Bakery & Cafe is the culmination of our passion for food, commitment to excellence and long enduring friendship.

Dana Briley and Jessica Brown, owners of Treats on Washington Bakery & Cafe, began their friendship in the fall of 2000 while attending the prestige The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. After graduating, Dana, with a Bachelor of Professional Studies focused in Pastry Arts, and Jessica, with a Bachelor of Professional Studies focused in Culinary Arts, moved to Boston.

Dana honed her craft at some of Boston's most reputable pastry venues to include The Ritz Carlton and later at Boston Magazine's 1995, 1998, 2001, 2003, 2004, and 2008 Best Specialty Cake Shop, Cakes to Remember, in Brookline.

Upon moving to Boston, Jessica began running some of Boston's most well-known and fast-paced kitchens as the Chef de Cuisine at Caffe Umbra, Sous Chef at Rocca Kitchen & Bar, and Sous Chef at Bina Osteria. Her focus turned to pastries in the fall of 2009 when she took the Pastry Chef position at Cafeteria Boston.

When the opportunity arose for these two friends to work together and open their own business, they jumped at the chance. Forged out of their friendship, Treats on Washington Bakery & Cafe was born.
